Our hotel in Madrid is right off Grand Via, a more human scaled Magnificent Mile, in a "colorful neighborhood with vibrant nightlife"-- these are the words our travel agent used. This is apparently code for "Your hotel has hookers in its doorway."

Still the hotel rooms are clean, the staff very helpful and the common room has a funky charm and free computers with Internet connections.
